Help with Yeetlist, shared checklists for iMessage. Can’t find an answer? Email us.
How do I open Yeetlist?
Yeetlist lives inside the Messages app.
- Open Messages and go to any iMessage conversation.
- Tap the + button to the left of the message field.
- Tap More, then tap Yeetlist.
Tip: in that list, touch and hold Yeetlist and drag it up so it's always one tap away.
How do I make and send a list?
Open Yeetlist and start a new list. Type your items, or paste text from a note, email or website. Yeetlist splits pasted text into separate items at line breaks, commas, semicolons and sentences, and it understands bullets (- • *), numbered lists (1. or 1)) and markdown checkboxes ([ ] and [x]).
Add a title if you like, then tap Send. If the bubble lands in the message field first, tap the send arrow to deliver it. The bubble shows the title, a progress bar and the first few items.
How do I update a list?
Tap the list's bubble in the conversation to open it. Check items off, or add, edit, reorder and delete items, then send the update. Each update replaces the previous bubble, so the conversation doesn't fill up with copies. Changed your mind? Use Undo.
How do I mark an item as not available or unsure?
Swipe or long-press an item to set its state:
- Open: still to do.
- Done (green): taken care of.
- Not available (red): couldn't be done, like when the store was out.
- Unsure (gray): needs a decision.
Why does my friend need Yeetlist to edit?
Yeetlist has no server. A list is edited inside the Yeetlist app on each person's iPhone or iPad, and the result travels in the message. So to check things off, add items and send updates, each person needs Yeetlist installed.
Without Yeetlist (for example, on a Mac), tapping the bubble opens a read-only web page that shows the list as it was in that message.
What does "unsent changes" mean?
You've changed the list on your device but haven't sent the update yet. Nobody else can see those changes until you send. Open the list and send the update to share them.
What happens if two people edit at the same time?
Yeetlist's smart merge combines the changes item by item, instead of one update wiping out the other. For example, if you check off "Milk" while a friend adds "Eggs", both changes are kept. If you both change the same item, the more recent change to that item wins.
Where are my other lists?
Yeetlist keeps your recent lists on your device. When you open Yeetlist from the app drawer, lists from the current conversation are shown first, and you can reopen any of your lists from there.
My list is too long to send
Each list travels inside its message, and messages have a size limit. Yeetlist compresses lists, so about 200 short items fit comfortably, but very long lists, or items with a lot of text, may not. Split the list into two, or shorten some items.
How do I delete lists from my device?
- A list you sent or received is a message in the conversation. To remove it, touch and hold the bubble, tap More, then tap the trash button. You can also delete the whole conversation.
- A list in Yeetlist's recent lists: swipe left on it and tap Remove, or open it and choose Remove List from This Device from the ⋯ menu.
- Everything Yeetlist stored on a device is removed when you delete the Yeetlist app from that device.
Deleting a list on your device doesn't remove it from other people's devices.
Can I see a list on my Mac?
Yes, read-only. Yeetlist runs on iPhone and iPad. On a Mac, clicking a Yeetlist bubble opens the list in your web browser, where you can see the items and progress, and copy the list as text. To make changes, open the conversation on your iPhone or iPad. See an example list.
If the page asks you to update your browser, use Safari 16.4 or later, or a current version of Chrome, Firefox or Edge. The list is decoded in your browser; see the privacy policy for what the web host may log.
Does Yeetlist work with Android or SMS chats?
No. Like all iMessage apps, Yeetlist only works in iMessage conversations (blue bubbles), not in SMS or RCS conversations (green bubbles).
What do I need?
An iPhone or iPad with iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later, with iMessage turned on. Yeetlist works with VoiceOver and Dynamic Type and follows your light or dark mode setting. There's no account to create.

It helps to include your device (for example, iPhone 15), its iOS version, the Yeetlist version, and what you did and what happened. A screenshot is great. Please don't send private list contents unless they're needed to show the problem.
